From September to February, when sprouts are firm, full, and about the size of a walnut.
• Planting: Space 60cm apart in firm, well-drained soil, in a sunny but sheltered position.
• Watering: Keep well-watered until established and during dry spells.
• Protection: Cover plants with netting or fleece to protect from cabbage white butterflies and pigeons.
• Support: As the plants grow taller, stake them to stop them from blowing over in strong winds.
