Fresno Chilli
A slightly larger, mild-mannered chilli, producing 5cm long, 2cm wide pods. Dark green turning bright red as they mature, with a gentle heat perfect for pickling, salsas, or adding a subtle kick to your dishes.
Harvest
June to October — pick when chillies are swollen, glossy, and vibrant.
Growing Instructions
• Planting: 45cm apart in well-drained soil, in a sunny, sheltered spot.
• Position: Ideal in a greenhouse, but can also grow in pots on a sunny patio or in a conservatory.
• Watering: Keep soil moist until established and during dry periods, avoiding waterlogging.
• Support: Stake plants once they reach roughly 30cm as chillies start to form.
• Feeding: Only feed once 2–3 chillies have formed. If only one appears, pick it to encourage more fruit.
Top Tips
• Handle With Care: Wash hands immediately after touching chillies.
• Warm Feet: Grow in pots or grow bags to keep roots warm.
• Shade in Heat: Protect delicate leaves during rare hot spells.
• Encourage Fruit: Early picking of lone chillies stimulates further crops.
