A vibrant, mini plum-shaped tomato that adds a splash of orange-gold to any salad. Sweet, juicy, and quick to produce its first trusses, Golden Ruby is as tasty as it is beautiful.
Roughly 8 weeks after planting — pick when plum tomatoes are golden and swollen.
• Planting: 45cm apart in well-drained soil, a large pot, or grow bag.
• Position: Sunny, sheltered spot; greenhouse is ideal, but can also grow in a conservatory or bright window before acclimatising outdoors.
• Watering: Keep soil moist until established and during dry periods, but avoid waterlogging.
• Support: Train plants using string up to 6 feet, removing side shoots as they grow. Once at the top, let plants hang back down naturally.
• Feeding: Only feed once 3–4 tomatoes are starting to swell.
• Side Shoot Management: Pinch side shoots to focus energy on fruit development.
• Water Evenly: Irregular watering can cause cracking or poor fruit set.
• Avoid Farmyard Manure: Harmful chemicals in straw bedding can damage your crop.
• Sunshine & Space: Keep leaves clear of fruits to maximise sunlight and airflow for healthier tomatoes.
