A compact, hardy variety that’s big on flavour and resilience! Dwarf Green Curled Kale produces beautifully frilled, dark green leaves packed with nutrients and a delicious, slightly sweet taste. Exceptionally tough, it thrives even in poor soils and harsh weather — making it perfect for winter gardens and year-round greens.
Harvest
Around 6–7 weeks after planting. Pick young, tender leaves for the best flavour. Use fresh for salads or cooked dishes, or blanch and freeze for later use.
Growing Instructions
Planting: Each plug contains 2–3 plants — do not separate them, as this can damage the roots. Plant as a bunch about 50cm apart in well-drained soil, in full sun or semi-shade.
Soil & Support: Bury the plug up to the first leaves and firm the soil around the stems for stability as the plants grow.
Watering: Keep well watered until established and during dry spells. Consistent moisture helps produce tender leaves.
Feeding: Feed fortnightly with a liquid fertiliser to encourage lush, leafy growth.
Insects: Protect from cabbage white butterfly and aphids by covering plants with netting or fine mesh during summer.
Top Tips
Pinch out the centre of the main stem to encourage side shoots for a longer harvest.
Kale’s flavour actually improves after a touch of frost — so don’t rush to harvest!
