Ogen Melons

Yes — you can grow melons in the UK! Ogen Melons thrive beautifully in a warm greenhouse, rewarding you with up to ten sweet, aromatic fruits per plant. These stunning melons ripen to a soft yellow with green stripes, releasing an irresistible fragrance and flavour that feels like pure sunshine. Juicy, exotic, and unbelievably delicious — once you grow Ogens, you’ll never look back!

Harvest

July to September - Fruits turn from green to yellow when ripe. Ripe melons may naturally slip from the stem.

Growing Instructions

Best Location: Grow in a greenhouse for the highest yields. Outdoors is possible in warm areas but will produce fewer fruits.
Planting: Choose a sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained soil or a growbag.
Training: Grow along the ground or train upward like cucumbers — support hanging fruits with nets.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist; melons dislike drying out. A drip feeder helps.
Pollination: Hand-pollinate if needed — transfer pollen from male to female flowers (female flowers have a tiny swelling).
Pruning: Remove weak side shoots so energy goes into fruit development.
Feeding: Feed only once fruits begin to develop— not before.

Top Tips

Humidity Helps: Melons love moist air — place a bucket of water in the greenhouse and dampen paths in hot weather.
End-of-Season Boost: Remove small late fruits so the plant focuses on ripening existing melons.
Perfect Sweetness: The richer the sun and warmth, the sweeter the melon!
