Paris Market Round Carrots
A fun twist on the classic carrot! These short, stubby, bite-sized roots have smooth, bright orange skin and a deliciously sweet crunch. Perfect for shallow soils, patio planters, or small gardens, they’re easy to grow and full of flavour. Their compact shape makes them a great choice for kids and beginner gardeners alike — and they look fantastic on the plate!

Harvest
July to October – lift when the roots are firm and round. Remove soil, store in dry sand, and keep the carrots separated to prevent rotting.

Growing Instructions

  • Planting: Do not separate — plant the plug as a bunch so the roots can spread naturally.

  • Spacing: Position 15–20cm apart. For a steady harvest, plant every 3 weeks.

  • Watering: Water in the morning and keep consistently moist during dry periods.

  • Weeding: Avoid weeding during the day — disturbed soil can attract carrot fly.

  • Companion Planting: Grow carrots alongside leeks; they naturally protect each other from pests like carrot fly and leek moth.

Top Tips

  • Container Friendly: Perfect for growing in pots, troughs, or even window boxes.

  • Sweetest Flavour: Harvest young for tender, extra-sweet carrots.

  • Pest Protection: Use fine mesh or fleece to deter carrot fly if growing in open soil.

  • Storage Tip: Store clean, dry roots in layers of sand or sawdust to enjoy them well into winter.
