A bushy, spreading evergreen shrub with soft, textured green-grey leaves that are intensely aromatic. Producing pretty mauve flowers in early to mid-summer, it’s a favourite with bumblebees. A versatile herb that elevates everything from savoury dishes to sweet treats and even drinks.

Planting

  • Location: Plant in beds or containers in well-drained soil or compost.

  • Sunlight: Full sun brings out the best aroma and flavour.

  • Spacing: Leave enough room for the plant to grow bushy and upright.

Care

  • Watering: Keep well watered until established, then only during dry periods.

  • Pruning: Trim occasionally to maintain shape and encourage bushy growth.

  • Soil: Avoid waterlogged soil to protect the roots.
