Scarlet Emperor is a vigorous, heavy-cropping variety that produces long, dark green pods up to 40cm — full of rich flavour and perfect for freezing. With its brilliant scarlet-red flowers, this variety is not only productive but also strikingly beautiful, making it ideal for adding a splash of colour to fences, trellises, or garden walls.

Harvest

From June onwards, pick the pods before the beans begin to swell for the best taste and texture.

Growing Instructions

• Planting: Space plants 25cm apart in well-drained soil beside a trellis, net, or cane.
• Training: Guide the vines upwards and let them trail naturally once they reach the top.
• Position: Choose a sunny but sheltered location and protect from frost.
• Watering: Keep well watered until established and during dry spells.
• Feeding: Feed every other week after the first beans have formed — not before.
